Book Of Job: The Musical – Act One Monday 28th February – Act Two Monday 7th March

The Book Of Job The Musical:
The Original Cast Recording
To Be Released As Two Download Albums
Act One
Monday 28th February 2011
Act Two
Monday 7th March 2011
While the world waits with baited breath for the release of The Indelicates’ ludicrously amazing concept masterwork, David Koresh Superstar – we thought it was the perfect time to unleash on the world this live studio recording of Simon and Julia’s last foray into the realm of ill-advised theatricality. Written and first performed in 2005, Simon’s musical was a fringe hit at the Brighton Festival and has been intermittently played all over the place since – including to sell out crowds at the Edinburgh and Cheltenham Literature festivals.
These albums, recorded as live by Keith Top Of The Pops at Dean Street Studios and performed on a broken acoustic guitar with some brilliant, obliging performers and no money, capture the rough and raucous attitude of the original show and may well constitute the first DIY punk-as-fuck original cast recording of an epic biblical musical of the Digital Economy era.
Alongside Simon and Julia, the musical features the vocal talents of former My Name Is Red and now dEAD cARS singer Chris Hodges as Job, acclaimed folk singer Mary Hampton, proper actress Sarah Pinkney, radical (and surprisingly tuneful) journalist Laurie Penny, rampant poet/messiah Michael Parker, axe wielding rock lothario Al Clayton and includes a slightly odd cameo from legendary David Devant and his Spirit Wife front-man, The Vessel.
Act One – in which God conspires with Satan to prove that wealthy man of the east, Job, is a righteous man by being really unpleasant to him – will be released on Monday (Feb 28th) as a pay-what-you-like download.
Act Two – in which God and Satan give Job Syphillis and his friends annoy him – will be released the following monday (Mar 7th) for a minimum price of £5.
We hope you don’t mind us mandatorily charging a little bit for the second half, but we are coming quite close to bankrupting ourselves with the money we’re spending to make David Koresh Superstar sound amazing. Also, the musical is, like, an hour and a half long and was really hard to write.
***David Koresh Superstar Release Date News Coming VERY SOON,***

Job: The Musical
Written by simonindelicate on January 20, 2011 – 4:12 pm -David Koresh Superstar – the imminent 3rd Indelicates record largely exists because – about 7 years ago – while rehearsing our hit fringe musical based on the book of Job, Chris Hodges (the dashing leading man in the titular role) made a joke along the very rough lines of: “What are you gonna do next? Waco: the Musical?”
Since then, the notion was forgotten and Job was performed all over the place to sell outs and standing ovations. We formed The Indelicates and did all that stuff and eventually came back to it once I’d worked out how to deal with the whole child abuse issue without being unforgivably crass.
ANYWAY – the point is, before DKS there was the Book of Job: The Musical – A similar delving into the vagaries of religion via the backalleyways of popular song. We were never able to get a proper recording together so you were never able to buy it… until VERY SOON
Because, inconveniently for our release schedule we did meet up a while ago and record it with Keith Top Of The Pops at Dean Street studios and – though it was taken a highly lengthy and circuitous amount of time to get the files off an apple formatted hard drive and into my mixing software – it is now pretty close to being ready for public consumption. This is the cover:
And this is all by way of saying, David Koresh Superstar coming SOON, but Job: The Musical coming EVEN SOONER.
peace out.XX

Splurge #2: Corporate Records Update – Part One of Many…
Written by simonindelicate on October 15, 2010 – 6:49 pm -Like The Vessel in Auntie Mabel, I’m not even going to try to plug all the things I want to right now, and will be back to draw your attention to more CR goodness over the coming weeks, but for now here are just some of the sparkly bits of awesome lighting up the corporaterecords.co.uk site at the moment:
Funny comes to the site with this 35 minute play from The Oxford Dons:
They’ve only set their recommended price at a pound but you should probably pay more for it because of morality and that.
Glamming up the party with the sort of single that makes you want to put your arm around a man in a jumpsuit and let him pretend to fellate your guitar is this offering from Jonny Cola and the A-Grades.
Having almost precisely the opposite effect, is this from Gokul Salvadi:
And having a different but equally enjoyable effect and New Waving your face off is this from Diefenbaker’s 5 Track ‘Diefenbaker’s Day Off’
GET IT
Sweet.
Oh yeah, and:
Back soon, my lovers

Corporate Records Update – August 2010
Written by simonindelicate on August 20, 2010 – 5:29 pm -As company directors, Julia and I deserve your goddamned respect goddamnit: so we assume that you will take these recommendations as they are intended – as orders – and immediately go and pay money to own these hot new slices of boss tuneage that have cropped up on Corporate Records recently.
Incidentally, if you’re in a band or are a singer/songwriter or a not-really-a-singer/songwriter or a guttural-wailer/songwriter or are a performance poet or a reader-out-of-odd-little-stories then we’ll be writing and promoting these roundups on a fairly regular basis – if you think we’d like what you’re doing, please use the site and send us the link somewhere (facebook/twitter/skywriting) and we’ll give it a listen.
So first up, released today is this Song Of The South tinged oddity from Laurence Owen from his six tracked ‘Yarnripper’ E.P.
If that (and indeed almost everything else) is a little too middle of the road for your taste - this offering from The Far Queue is awesome:
Wob has been producing fantastic impassioned anti-folk since long before anyone decided to dress it up in a floaty dress and brand it on the tube. There’s a whole back catalogue to explore on the site, but this – from 1996′s ‘Friends in the Night‘ EP and now reissued on Corporate Records – is as good a place to start as any:
Lastly – and belatedly, as we were too busy promoting ourselves to go on about her when she released it – if you haven’t bought Lily Rae’s album then you really really should because it’s fucking amazing:
Peace out kids. X.
