The Book Of Job The Musical:
The Original Cast Recording
To Be Released As Two Download Albums
Act One
Monday 28th February 2011
Act Two
Monday 7th March 2011

While the world waits with baited breath for the release of The Indelicates’ ludicrously amazing concept masterwork, David Koresh Superstar – we thought it was the perfect time to unleash on the world this live studio recording of Simon and Julia’s last foray into the realm of ill-advised theatricality. Written and first performed in 2005, Simon’s musical was a fringe hit at the Brighton Festival and has been intermittently played all over the place since – including to sell out crowds at the Edinburgh and Cheltenham Literature festivals.

These albums, recorded as live by Keith Top Of The Pops at Dean Street Studios and performed on a broken acoustic guitar with some brilliant, obliging performers and no money, capture the rough and raucous attitude of the original show and may well constitute the first DIY punk-as-fuck original cast recording of an epic biblical musical of the Digital Economy era.

Alongside Simon and Julia, the musical features the vocal talents of former My Name Is Red and now dEAD cARS singer Chris Hodges as Job, acclaimed folk singer Mary Hampton, proper actress Sarah Pinkney, radical (and surprisingly tuneful) journalist Laurie Penny, rampant poet/messiah Michael Parker, axe wielding rock lothario Al Clayton and includes a slightly odd cameo from legendary David Devant and his Spirit Wife front-man, The Vessel.

Act One – in which God conspires with Satan to prove that wealthy man of the east, Job, is a righteous man by being really unpleasant to him – will be released on Monday (Feb 28th) as a pay-what-you-like download.

Act Two – in which God and Satan give Job Syphillis and his friends annoy him – will be released the following monday (Mar 7th) for a minimum price of £5.

We hope you don’t mind us mandatorily charging a little bit for the second half, but we are coming quite close to bankrupting ourselves with the money we’re spending to make David Koresh Superstar sound amazing. Also, the musical is, like, an hour and a half long and was really hard to write.

Corporate Records Update – August 2010

Written by simonindelicate on August 20, 2010 – 5:29 pm -

As company directors, Julia and I deserve your goddamned respect goddamnit: so we assume that you will take these recommendations as they are intended – as orders – and immediately go and pay money to own these hot new slices of boss tuneage that have cropped up on Corporate Records recently.

Incidentally, if you’re in a band or are a singer/songwriter or a not-really-a-singer/songwriter or a guttural-wailer/songwriter or are a performance poet or a reader-out-of-odd-little-stories then we’ll be writing and promoting these roundups on a fairly regular basis – if you think we’d like what you’re doing, please use the site and send us the link somewhere (facebook/twitter/skywriting) and we’ll give it a listen.

So first up, released today is this Song Of The South tinged oddity from Laurence Owen from his six tracked ‘Yarnripper’ E.P.

If that (and indeed almost everything else) is a little too middle of the road for your taste - this offering from The Far Queue is awesome:

Wob has been producing fantastic impassioned anti-folk since long before anyone decided to dress it up in a floaty dress and brand it on the tube. There’s a whole back catalogue to explore on the site, but this – from 1996′s ‘Friends in the Night‘ EP and now reissued on Corporate Records – is as good a place to start as any:

Lastly – and belatedly, as we were too busy promoting ourselves to go on about her when she released it – if you haven’t bought Lily Rae’s album then you really really should because it’s fucking amazing:

Peace out kids. X.

A Despatch From The Threatened Country Of Open Wi-Fi

Written by simonindelicate on August 17, 2010 – 5:54 pm -

Right then, world, sorry not to have been in touch sooner, but we moved house, went to Germany, recorded a new album and were generally busy. Also, we’re still waiting for the god of the internet to flick a switch somewhere and let us have broadband again – so we’re posting this in Starbucks

…using their wi-fi to briefly glimpse the wired world like the satanic hordes gazing up from the fall into the rapidly retreating magnesium flare of heaven.

NEWS:
Look around! the new indelicates site is live and kicking! sexy and bloggy with the fecund promise of regular updates and CONTENT as exciteable tech-fetishists like to call it. Check back often, subscribe to the RSS and use away, multitudes.

VIDEO:
HERE, at long last is the utterly filthy Barely SFW video for Europe:

many thanks to all the unnervingly beautiful extras – tell your parents we are sorry.

KORESH:
most tracking for the third album is done – we are recording a bit more with some extraordinary musicians in Texas, mixing when we get back in October and releasing the fuck out of it soon thereafter. We love this record so much we sit in class drawing pictures of it with little hearts.

CORPORATE RECORDS:
proper update on the way when we get the internet at home, but we should take a moment to point you at the Spoiler Alert! EP which has nothing at all to do with Eddie Argos, Dyan Valdes and Keith TOTP, but which IS an awesome collection of songs about superheroes for only 2 quid:

GERMANY:
thanks to all who came to our acoustic duo shows in Germany – especially Laura in Dusseldorf who let us play in her garden and pass a hat round – lots of fun. There is video, but you will have to be patient.

SPECIAL EDITIONS:
Look out for news v. soon. We hit a bit of a financial wall but are working on a solution. keep watching us on twitter @juliaindelicate @simonindelicate @theindelicates for quickest updates.

PIERRE HOMARD:
is amazing

Corporate Records Goes From Awesome To Awesome-r…

Written by simonindelicate on July 12, 2010 – 1:57 am -

In case you didn’t know, when we released Songs For Swinging Lovers, we built a whole pay-what-you-like record company to do so and made it so that anyone else could release on it too. We’re not the only company offering this kind of service (to be needlessly honest) but we are the only ones who are doing it cool as fuck – so there. We’re not just about the online and the digital- like the Poltergeist who locked Sarah Greene in a cupboard in Ghostwatch, we are looking to move more into the physical realm soon and we have various plastic discs and books and novelties in the process of being imagined. In the meantime, Corporate Records is already packed full of some really special music. Here is some of it that you should listen to:

First, The Dirty North released their debut EP ‘Know What I Think‘ on 12/07/2010. They are genuinely, truly and without a hint of music industry hyperbole among the best bands we’ve ever seen live in this or any other country and this release is special. You should go and download it AT ONCE and FOR MONEY, because they could do with it and because the record is good enough. Then you should see them live and then you should download it again FOR MORE MONEY, because you will want to.

Next, you might have suspected from my previous over-excitement about the guest vocalists on the upcoming Indelicates Record ‘David Koresh Superstar’ that I love the work of David Devant and His Spirit Wife‘s frontman under any and all of his various names. It is very pleasing therefore that he’s decided to put his ‘Demonstration Songs‘ on the Corporate Site. From what I can gather, these are all works in progress and he’s intending to upload newer versions of the tracks as he works on them, which you can then download and compare – hopefully choosing at some point to pay him for them. Like everything Mikey does, the songs are ace and I’m skipping for joy at the novel way he’s using the site to sell them to you:

Rock Stone‘s Aug Stone can be seen playing an ill-advised Geisha in our upcoming (and utterly revolting) video for Europe, but when he’s not doing that, he does this and it is dead cosmic as I used to say when I was in primary school in the distant distant past.:

If Aug rocks too hard for you, Bedroomsound by the 10p Mixes released recently will make you feel better. It is adorably pretty, folky and bittersweet and everyone I know who is cool and has heard it says it’s amazing and so do I:

There is plenty more, much of which I haven’t gotten round to listening to myself yet, and it’s an increasing delight to click around the Artist section of the corporate site and find wonderful things to listen to. I’m going to be posting more updates like this, and we are putting together a Corporate Records podcast to play some tracks from the site and TALK AT YOU which we’ll have ready to go in the next few units of recorded time. Please: if you are amazing and want us to know, upload some music/spoken word/ambient ‘found’ audio and tell us about it on twitter or in the comments or with a skywriter above Lewes, East Sussex where we live and often look up.

Current mood: Delighted

Music: Good
